About The Artist

People are beautiful, perfect in their "imperfections".

Tyler Mercier has a tremendous love for humankind. Gentle and empathetic, he eloquently captures the beauty and grace of humanity. Mercier creates no dependency on people to be other than as they are. Moving beyond societal definitions of what a person "should" be, Mercier embraces the beauty of "what is", letting go of expectation and replacing it with acceptance. To accept and support the models is an uplifting and crucial aspect of his sculpting process. As Mercier sees deep into each model, the essence that is seen emerges in each piece. His artwork empowers people to love and accept themselves as they are. Mercier's sculpture, as well as the man himself, is a welcome antidote to the world as we know it.

Tyler Mercier has created figurative bronze sculpture with classical methods and contemporary messages. Classical patinas as well as poly-chrome paint finishes are used on the surfaces of the work. Mercier sees apiritual beauty in the human body and tries to portray beyond the merely physical. He feels that the role of the artist is to be the conscience of society, and he feels passionate about his commitment to society.

An environmental and social activist Mercier has been featured in People Magazine and The New York Times for his work on health issues in Los Alamos, New Mexico. He has exhibited with such greats as Judy Chicago as well as various one-person shows and has a following of collectors nationally.
